Image Logger used in Mobile camera system
Scorpion Image Logger is an application
in the powerful Scorpion Vision Software® family. Scorpion Image Logger
is capable of acquiring digital images from a broad range of commercial
video cameras. Optionally the images are tagged with real-time data from
external data sources such as GPS receivers and OPC devices, before
storage to JPG or BMP disk files.
The purpose of the mobile camera system is to collect data for a national road information base. A normal car is equipped with a PC running the Scorpion Image Logger, a camera and a GPS receiver. The camera positioned on the roof of the car, captures an image for every 20 meter. The images are stored in the computer together with their respective GPS position coordinates.
The road authorities can later look up the images for information, planning or repairing purposes.
